A Journey Through Texas
During this story, the fact that way back then, these Europeans were smart enough to understand that they could take advantage of befriending the natives. Then, they knew how to take advantage of them. This impressed me, because i never thought that they could be capable of decieving them like that. Also, during this story, there was a part where they prayed to God for help. Because i am very religious i liked the fact that they were too. While traveling north, they were very persistant and they wouldn't give up. I would have felt the same to something that important to me.

The Iroquois Constitiution
This story is completley different from the past three stories. Unlike others this story is very serious and right from the beginning starts to talk about rules and whats going to happen all at once. There was no fun lesson or riddle to this story at all. I found it a bore to read and i hope i wouldn't have to read it again. It was very confusing and overly word for my taste.

The Navajo Origin Legend
At first i didn't understand what the story was trying to explain to me. But, when the story started to unravel the meanings of the ears of corn and the meaning of the colors i saw the plot of the story. Much like the other two stories, it was another legend about the beginning of life. I liked the ending of this story when the Gods had said to them "live togeher now as husband and wife." This very much represents the Catholic religion, and their priorites of being married.

When Grizzlies Walked Upright
I loved this story. It was so interesting and the plot was planned out just right. The way they had represented everything in the story had made sense. for example when the Chief of the Sky Spirits ran down the mountain he had made creases in the mountains. I loved that this author had put a grizzly bear and a spirit together to make humans, not only humans but "ancestor indians". The little tale at the end about how indians dont kill grizzly bears even if they kill an indian just ties in the whole meaning of the story.
The Earth on Turtle's Back
This story represents the beginning of Earth, its a tale for amusement. I didn't necessarily love this version of the start of life on Earth but, it is a different version of it. The great chief had represented God and the young mother was Mary mother of Jesus, expecting Jesus. Jesus represented Earth in the story. The fact that the smallest and weakest animal was able to reach Earth really spoke to me, saying that anyone can do anything if they put their mind to it, and i loved that part of the story because its true in many ways.

Christopher Columbus
At the begginning, i like the scenery that Columbus had set for his readers. It made me feel as i was there or as i wanted to be there. When he tells the story about the snake it kind of grossed me out but at the same time showed me how they acted upon things like that. Columbus never went there for anything else except peace, he had make deals with the natives and used them to his advantage. This made me think, maybe i should like Columbus to make peace with some people. You always get something good out of befriending your enemies. Throughout this passage, Christopher Columbus was on a mission, that he is sure he will succeed and thats a good trait in a person. Hopefully like him i will succeed in like and never give up for what i want.
